Closed vs. open-ended questions

Close-ended:

This question type provides answer choices for the respondent to choose from - like a multiple-choice question. These questions provide you with quantitative data to use in your analysis. On YouGov Surveys you can also use images in close-ended answer options.

Open-ended:

This question type asks the respondent for feedback in their own words. Since open-ended questions can take much longer to answer and analyse, we only recommend using a few in your survey. Please note: YouGov Surveys does NOT offer coding or analysis of open-ended questions.
